This position requires in-depth knowledge of credit operations, processes, policies and procedures, including compliance requirements. Responsible for managing bankruptcy, collection, charge-off, OREO, and foreclosure activities, working closely with lenders, auditors, examiners, and vendor service providers. Responsible for managing the appraisal ordering and appraisal review process.

 General Duties

  • Establish and maintain effective charge-off, foreclosure, and bankruptcy policies and procedures, ensuring best practices are adhered to, as well as compliance with regulatory policy, procedure and appropriate follow through.
    • Manage the processing of Bank loans in non-accrual, charge-off, or OREO status.
      • Initiate and manage collection, charge-off, and foreclosure actions.
      • Work collaboratively with loan officers and other internal associates.
      • Seeks to minimize bank losses by evaluating each loan independently and making the proper decision to future actions.
      • Document preparation for collection efforts as directed by regulatory practices.
      • Prepare related reports and administer systems to account for special assets. Collect information and report to required agencies.
      • Manage and market OREO properties. Maintain current appraisals and insurance.
      • Initiate and manage bankruptcy actions. Prepare proof of claim and file, and monitor proceedings until the loan is closed.
      • Confer with legal counsel. Provide initial and supplemental information to the attorney. Follow up on legal action.
      • Manage the listing process with a broker. Receive and process offer. Handle and execute sale documents.
      • Secure foreclosure bids and relay to an attorney.
      • Responsible for accurate records within the electronic systems.
      • Manage payoff and collateral release activities, technical exception data, and provide resolution assistance, as needed.
    • Manage the processing of CarBucks (a division of GrandSouth Bank) loans in the repossession, non-accrual, and charge-off status.
      • Confer with Loan Officers.
      • Prepare charge-off, verify balances, and out of trust/repo numbers.
      • Manage appropriate documentation requirements and deliver executed charge off to loan department.
  • Manage the process of filing bank creditor claims with probate courts, ensuring follow-through. Prepare documentation, monitor estate filings with the court system, and submit claims to the court.
  • Prepare and answer Letter of credit to SCDHEC. Prepare amendments.
  • Manage vendor relationships.
    • Manage and update the real estate appraisal program. Maintain approved appraisers listing. Review and determine regulatory LTV for each property. Maintain update shared appraisal network.
  • Proficiently produce effective, timely reports, required by the Bank and regulatory agencies.  Track trends and provide recommendations to management, as necessary.
  • Assist in the preparation of responses for examiners, auditors, or internal audit and make corrections as necessary.
    • Ensures compliance with all applicable federal, state and local laws, regulations and policies and internal operating policies, procedures, and audit/examining standards.  Responds to audit/examining exceptions.
    • Assist with responses to loan reviews and manage the maintenance of the tracking required by the loan reviews.
  • Comply with all regulations, policies and laws which apply and are within the scope of the position.
  • Stay current on compliance regulations by satisfactorily completing all required compliance training.
    • Train personnel to ensure bank policies and procedures are being followed. Ensure instructions, procedural manuals, and samples are provided to loan processors and loan officers.
    • Research new regulations, policies, and procedures and ensure effective implementation.
  • Participate in various committees as appointed.
    • Serving/leading process improvement/project teams as needed.
    • Being available to provide support to the credit team in areas of underwriting and loan administration, as needed.
  • Other duties as assigned by management.

Work Experience Requirements

  • 6 + years of proven loan servicing experience 
  • Current loan administration knowledge and background, including knowledge of financial lending operations. Thorough knowledge of administration, documentation and servicing procedures. Commercial credit underwriting experience is preferred
  • Working knowledge of banking and regulatory policies that impact a loan operations department.
  • Able to read, interpret and apply applicable laws, rules, regulations and/or policies and procedures.
  • Excellent decision-making, analytical, and problem-solving skills.
  • PC literate with proficiency in MS applications, database reporting, and loan systems.
  • Excellent listening and verbal and written communication skills and the ability to interact professionally in a collaborative environment with a diverse group of internal and external contacts.
  • Ability to prioritize and handle multiple assignments concurrently.
  • High attention to detail.
  • Ability to learn products, services and procedures of banking operations, financial industry, and regulatory systems quickly and accurately to meet policy and regulatory requirements
  • Ability to comprehend and adhere to operational controls, including compliance to all required policies and all Federal and State banking regulations, including compliance to the Bank Secrecy Act/Anti Money Laundering (BSA/AML) and Office of Foreign Asset Control (OFAC) and USA PATRIOT Act programs.
  • Ability to meet and adhere to compliance to the Truth in Lending/Dodd Frank Act qualification requirements for Loan Originators and the SAFE Act.

 Education Requirements

  • Bachelor's degree, or equivalent work experience in a financial institution
