Primary function:
Manages all functions and staff of a Retail Banking Branch. Accountable for maximizing branch revenues, sales, customer satisfaction and minimizing operating losses. Optimize individual and team performance. Responsible for branch compliance with bank policies, procedures, and operational integrity. Drive the expansion of loan and deposit relationships by connecting customers to financial solutions and services designed to maximize their financial goals. Provide outstanding customer service by fully understanding financial needs and identifying bank products and services to achieve financial goals.

General Duties:

  • Manage all functions and staff of a Retail Branch. Perform supervisory duties over day-to-day operations.
  • Ensure appropriate resource levels by managing employee talent, scheduling, training, and coordination of activities.
  • Recruit, build and maintain a strong branch team.
  • Evaluate employee potential and deploy talent that will contribute to the achievement of branch goals. Share knowledge and promote staff development.
  • Provide leadership in order to align tasks with sales, service, operational, and risk managements performance objectives for the branch.
  • Ensure that team members work collaboratively in order to optimize team integration.
  • Provide employees with guidance in handling difficult or complex problems or in resolving escalated customer complaints or disputes.
  • Give approval on customer transactions that require sound judgment.
  • Create a customer-focused environment that promotes lasting relationships by aligning customer needs with bank products and superior service levels.
  • Accountable for maximizing employee sales productivity and customer service effectiveness in order to exceed revenue goals and result in great customer experiences.
  • Communicate expectations and provide coaching to create a proactive sales and service environment in the branch.
  • Establish employee performance goals and grow capabilities by providing coaching and development plans to effect continuous improvements. Share knowledge, give direction, set limits, and hold employees accountable for performance objectives.
  • Manage promotional campaigns and product initiatives and employee performance in support of branch objectives.
  • Review, monitor, and report sales and service performance against plan and implement improvement strategies. Conduct weekly staff meetings to guide directives.
  • Arrange for necessary facility maintenance or repair work.
  • Establish a strong bank presence in the local market by developing strong community partnerships. Enhance the bank's presence by building relationships with community members and participating in activities that create opportunities to promote bank products and services.
  • Develop deposit and loan business with existing and potential customers by establishing a personal referral network. Conduct business development activities that support a strategic sales plan, such as cold calls on prospective small businesses.
  • Clearly communicate the best customer solutions, sometimes involving complex and technical details and product recommendations.
  • Maintain knowledge of customer history, account terms, pricing, and bank products and services.
  • Originate and/or process consumer, commercial, and mortgage loan applications. Match customer needs to bank product. Maintain an understanding of credit and underwriting requirements, various loan products, regulations, and documentation.
  • Provide excellent service to bank customers. Provide a thorough, timely, and accurate response to the customer's inquiries, needs, or concerns. Deliver professional, positive, and immediate solutions.
  • Resolve customer inquiries in such a manner that will result in new or improved sales positions
  • Manage relationships with other areas of the bank to ensure optimal customer satisfaction. Work cross-functionally with banking partners to maximize market opportunities and provide a full financial experience to customers.
  • May also function as a Loan Officer and/or Personal Banker and/or Teller as needed to support branch personnel.
  • Participate in ongoing professional / educational development opportunities in order to stay current on industry, community, and bank initiatives and trends.
  • Responsible for maintaining security controls to protect against fraudulent activity and unnecessary risk. Maintain an understanding of appropriate regulatory materials to effectively manage risk and comply with operational and compliance requirements.
  • Continually assess the degree of risk, demonstrate sound judgment and decision-making and discretion in order to reduce uncertainty, manage risk, and improve quality. Safeguard all branch and customer assets and transactions by ensuring that operations are conducted in secure manners that protect the privacy and integrity.
  • Conduct audits in accordance with bank policies and regulatory requirements in order to manage operational risks, identify areas of improvement, and escalate issues to management, as necessary.

Work experience requirements:

  • Consumer/Retail Lending experience a must
  • Computer proficiency
  • Ability to make personal connections, engage customers, and always act in a courteous and professional manner.
  • Drive for results. Successful record of recognizing opportunities and cross-selling products and services to existing customers and prospects.
  • Excellent listening and verbal and written communication skills and the ability to interact professionally in a collaborative environment with a diverse group of internal and external contacts.
  • Ability to prioritize and handle multiple assignments concurrently; proven ability to operate successfully in a demanding environment; demonstrable track record of high performance.
  • Ability to learn products, services and procedures of the retail banking operations, financial industry, and market competition quickly and accurately to meet policy and regulatory requirements
  • Ability to comprehend and adhere to operational controls, including compliance to all required policies and all Federal and
  • State banking regulations, including compliance to the Bank Secrecy Act/Anti Money Laundering (BSA/AML) and Office of
  • Foreign Asset Control (OFAC) and USA PATRIOT Act programs.
  • Ability to meet and adhere to compliance to the Truth in Lending/Dodd Frank Act qualification requirements for Loan
  • Originators and the SAFE Act.


Education requirements:

  • Bachelor's Degree in Financial Services
  • 3-5 years of Banking industry experience
